"The amount of administration time and paper-work for doctors, especially in the underfunded public system, is unbelievable. I founded eRequests to create a platform that focuses on a pain point that doctors, including myself, experienced day-to-day. Doctors need to be the ones to create these solutions for other doctors to ensure these processes are accurate, intuitive, and meet an actual need."

Frequently Asked Questions

Our team, product, servers, information – everything is located on Australian soil. This is for two reasons:
  • We believe that a solution tailored to fit in the Australian healthcare system should be made in and by Australians, and
  • We want to ensure that all data security and patient privacy standards are enforceable by Australian law.

No – eRequests is a completely stand-alone web application, that requires no specialised software to use apart from a web browser. This means that you can access eRequests from any secure web browser, even from home or a personal laptop.

We have over 3000 pathology and radiology providers on our database across Australia, thanks to our Healthdirect API, which is constantly being updated with new providers and up-to-date information. If you want to work with us in any capacity, or if you simply want to check that you are on our database, please email us on info@erequests.com.au
All doctor’s patients and requests are completely silo’ed from every other user, doctor, and clinic. This means that no one else, apart from you, can see or action your requests, and no one else has access to your patient information. However, if you work in a clinic/department with multiple doctors, and you want this information to be shared, we can offer that as well as part of our enterprise arrangements. Please email us on info@erequests.com.au for further information.

Patients and providers can, of course, see the request that is sent to them, which would include your name, provider number, and practice details. However, even when a request is sent from you to a patient or provider, the generated email comes from eRequests, so your email is not visible to anyone.

Data security is of utmost importance, and at eRequests we try and meet the highest standards. We manage data security in a few important ways:
  • We meet and exceed Australian healthcare data security guidelines and standards. To ensure our compliance, we consulted with top digital health security experts (including experts endorsed by the WHO and the AIDH for health data security).
  • Though eRequests is a cloud-based web application, all data is stored on Australian soil. This ensures compliance with Australian privacy/data laws and prevents any chance of offshore access to your information.
  • Encrypted data in transit and encrypted data at rest. All emails are secured using Amazon’s TLS encryption (the same way that governments send emails), and all stored data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption (the same way that governments store sensitive information).
These strategies to minimise risk is based on the guidelines from the RACGP. To read more about their position around using emails specifically in general practice, please visit

This is completely understandable. There is no way of sending sensitive information that is without risk, even completely analogue methods like physical mail contain some risk. But, of course, there are measures that can be taken to reduce the risk as much as possible, including:
  • - Consenting patients to use the platform, and consent to have an emailed request
  • - Ensuring the patient’s email is verified prior to sending the request
  • - Ensuring the emails are encrypted (our job!), or password protected
